Alexander Rumyantsev - executive director of the contest

"In such important musical event, such as the International Competition for young singers of popular music "New Wave" it is worth to highlight the most well-deserved and the brightest!" - guided by this motto, Alexander Rumyantsev diligently and creatively works as an Executive Director of the competition.

Alexander Rumyantsev was born in Moscow in a family of musically talented people. Belov Vladimir Nikolayevich – his grandfather – was talented composer. He wrote front-line songs, songs about his Motherland which are well known to people of different generations.

At school Alexander was an A-level student. From the childhood he was fascinated with music,      had finished music school per grade of the accordion. Idols of his juvenility were many rock bands, but especially - the legendary teams like "Deep Purple", "Nazareth", whose albums on vinyl he collected with the ultimate care and tremor. Independently mastered the percussion instruments during his school years, in the seventh form he built up his own rock band called "Burn" and appeared with it on school leaving parties and dances in his native Kuntsevo ...

Working in a number of foreign companies in the Center of World Trade, Mr. Rumyantsev met many interesting people, among them were actors and musicians. It was exactly that time when he understood that desire for creativity is not leaving him and the world of show business - this is his world, in which he feels comfortable, which he has a gust of, perceiving all the nuances.

After analyzing the situation in the domestic show business, Alexander made the following conclusion: the majority of artists, even the most popular have an acute lack of high-quality print media and promotional materials. The next thought was the idea brought to life: Alexander Rumyantsev has organized a company producing placards, leaflets, posters, calendars and many other things.

In 90-ies he organized concerts for Svetlana Lazareva and later started a successful joint project with the cabaret duet "Academy" which lasted for two years.
In 1997, the president of the “ARS” holding Igor Krutoy, has offered to Alexander as a senior manager, to create a new subdivision of the holding company - Independent Agency of Copyrights. The Agency aims to protect copyrights and authors’ and performers’ allied rights. In the Agency’s catalogue there are more than two thousand well-known poets, composers, bands and singers, among them are Leonid Agutin, Konstantin Arseniev, Kim Breitburg, Alexander Zatsepin, Igor Krutoy, Philip Kirkorov, Konstantin Meladze, Alexander Shevchenko, “BI-2” “Discoteka Avariya”(Disco Crash) “Ruki Vverh!”(Hands Up!) and many others.

In February 2002, based on the experience of working together, Mr. Krutoy suggested Alexander Rumyantsev to head the organization and realization of the “New Wave” International contest for young singers of popular music in Jurmala. "It is extremely important for us to find a properly extraordinary and original names, because that is what the main aim of the contest is" - said Alexander Rumyantsev. "We all make high efforts to bring to life the main idea of the competition - the revelation of new stars! Underestimate and miss the talent will be inexcusably for us!" – emphasizes Alexander. "Making “New Wave” contest’s  preparation and concert program - said Mr. Rumyantsev - we realize that holding on the professional level such a major cultural event of international scale requires careful, rigorous and the most responsible approach to every issue - whether it is working moment or serious working process.
